I'm just too tired,physically drained and emotionally deflated to rant about it properly...But suffice it to say that the NEW job is actually THE the job from Hell. Seriously, the one people always refer to...I've GOT IT.
Ok, YEAH, I realize that nobody is forcing me to stay(with the possible exception of my husband who just gives me that look and says, "If you hate it so much, just find ANOTHER one" SURE. Cause' finding THIS one was so goddamn easy with a job lapse of 7 FUCKING YEARS) But I won't quit, because I'm too stubborn and, I've come to realize, just a little bit masochistic. So tomorrow morning, after a night of tossing and turning and dreading the moment my alarm clock will finally go off, I'll drag my defeated ass out of bed and into the cold, dark morning and go back to Hell.
*le sigh*

And it still doesn't seem real. How can it be? How can someone that I love be gone so quickly...murdered in cold blood? How do I wrap my brain around the fact that she's really, truly gone from my life? I can't ever again hear her voice, exchange hysterical emails, send ridiculous random text messages, and worst of all, never wrap my arms around her again. And how do I process the anger I feel? The disgust at a society that breeds people so evil and soulless that they could so cavalierly snuff out a life that was so precious? Lisa was a rare person. Kind, generous, loving, understanding, funny as hell and quirky. God I loved how quirky she was. If only she knew how much she was loved.
Rest in Peace my dear friend. You are so missed.

2006 Review
1.) Where did you ring in 2006? With Pizza and sparkling cider, snuggled up on the couch with the hubby and two sleepy babies as we watched the ball drop.
2.) What was your status by Valentines Day? Married...with Children.

3.) Were you in school (anytime this year)? Nope

4.) How did you earn your keep? Admin. Assistant for a bunch of Engineers for half the year but mostly I get unlimited access to the credit card for...ah, performing my marital duties spectacularly well. ;)

5.) Did you have to go to the hospital? Only to visit my husband while he was there.

6.) Did you encounter the police? My kids were both cuffed and put in the back of a cruiser. But that's pretty par for the course every Thanksgiving.

7.) Where did you go on vacation? Outer Banks, NC for a week, weekend in Cape Cod, and bunch of beautiful chicks descended upon my house for a week of debauchery.

8.) What did you purchase that was over $500? A new computer for us, A guitar for Tim, A computer for my parents for Christmas.

9.) Did you know anybody who got married? Tim's Cousin Laurie, Tim's co-worker Mike

10.) Do you know anybody who passed away? Tim's Nana Donohue. She was 98, and a firecracker until the end.

11.) Have you run into anybody you graduated high school with? I see heidi every day, talk to Lora regularly, saw Eileen at Heidi's B-day girls night, and always see someone at the mall.
12.) Did you move anywhere? No, thank GOD!
13.) What sporting events did you go to? Just a Brewer's game in June for my birthday

14.) What concerts did you go to? Just a Duran show...(or 4)

15.) Are you registered to vote? yep

16.) If so, did you do your patriotic duty on Nov. 7? Not that it did me much good.

17.) Where do you live now? Newtown, CT

18.) Describe your birthday.
Went to dinner with Tim & the kids (Japenese Hibachi- YUM!) did some shopping, bemoaned the fact that I'm getting really freakin' OLD!

19.) What's the one thing you thought you would never do but did in 2006? Went back to work...and LIKED it.

20.) What is one thing you regretted this year? Not taking the kids to Disney. I won't have that regret next year!

21.) What's something you learned about yourself? That I could take care of myself and my kids, if I ever HAD to.

22.) Any new additions to your family? *Wracks brain trying to think if we got any animals this year.* Wow, I think it may be a record...we didn't!

23.) What was your best month? August, definately :)

24.) What from pop culture will you remember 2006 by? I've already forgotten. (see...I AM old!)
25.) How would you rate this year with a scale from 1 (shitty) to 10 (excellent)? Everyone was for the most part healthy and happy, I can't ask for more. 9 (ok, so maybe there was SOME room for improvement)

I know I don't post much on my journal. I usually limit myself to the occasional comment to someone else's livejournal. But today I'm actually glad I have a place to purge.
I'm a bottler, that is to say, I bottle up my emotions until they build and build and I finally explode. I'm very non-confrontational (in person that is...on the boards, as some of you know, I'm completely different. :) )
Anyway, in my REAL life...I'm the person that will give you icy silence, but will never come right out and tell you why I'm angry, or hurt or whatever. I don't know why...I've always been this way.
Well right now I'm in a very bad place. I've made the mistake of taking a job working with my best friend of 20 years. So far...it's been a disaster.
She is a different person at work, and it's a person that I don't like.
She's rude, thoughtless and harsh. Not just with me, but with everyone, however I'm not used to her acting like this with ME.
The thing is...I KNEW she was like this. I've seen it in her soooo many times with other people, but she's never acted like this with me. Until now.
One minute she will be screeching at me from her desk that I forgot to date a fax that I sent (mind you, we do not sit right next to each other...she yells across about 5 cubicles for me, and everyone else to hear)...and 5 minutes later she's at my desk, smiling and saying, "ready to go to lunch, sweetie?"
ARRRRGGGHHH!
I know that I should say something to her, tell her how the way she treats me at work is upsetting me...but after 20 years I KNOW her and I know that she will get defensive and turn it back on me...and no matter how much I try to reason with her, I can't win. There is NO winning an argument with her. I have learned that much by now.
The real problem is that I love my job. It feels so good to be out of the house and to be productive, and to make my own paycheck. But I can see that if I stay, it's going to be the end of a 20 year friendship.
And my quitting will piss her off too. She brought me in to ease her workload, and if I leave, she'll be angry that I let her down.
This is, I believe, where the rock and the hard place meet. *sigh*
I'm so confused. Because on one hand, I know that there is no job worth our friendship. But then I wonder, if she feels free to treat me so badly, is she really the friend I always thought she was?

This whole thing has put me into such a bad place. The depression that I thought I'd finally gotten control of is back. I feel so alone and empty all the time.
I just don't know how to make this better.

This is my first entry. I'll be honest...I've always been a little bit afraid of creating a live Journal. I've been afraid of what might come spilling out of my sometimes tumultuous head onto the page. Often I don't realize that something is bothering me until I begin to write, which come to think of it, may be why I've stopped writing altogether of late.
Right now I feel like I have so much to say, but not enough time to say it. That's my life lately...little scraps of time between chores, errands, baseball games and play dates.
I will come back and post more though. This is the first time in a very long while that I've actually felt the need to purge my thoughts...but it's almost dinner time (sigh) I guess I'd better figure out what I'm going to feed everyone tonight.
